Senior AQA Engineer (Java) - 6-month contract

The platform’s core challenges include integrating heterogeneous external services, maintaining reliability under high-load conditions, implementing advanced business logic for scheduling and pooling, and providing accurate cost control and reporting. Strong backend engineering is critical to scaling global coverage, ensuring performance, and delivering a seamless user experience.

🌟About the Role:

You will join a cross-functional engineering team working on the next generation of our billing and core platform — a large-scale, business-critical system serving both riders and drivers. As a Senior Automation QA Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of new functionality as the platform evolves.

You will work alongside backend engineers, product managers, and other QA engineers within an established development team, contributing to a fast-paced implementation and rollout phase. The role requires a hands-on, independent approach to quality, strong automation expertise, and the ability to work effectively within complex distributed systems.

📈 Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement end-to-end automated test cases for mobile applications and microservice APIs using Java

Maintain and extend a flexible automation framework that integrates with CI/CD pipelines

Collaborate with product and development teams to define test strategy, acceptance criteria, and quality gates

Leverage AI coding assistants to accelerate test script generation and code reviews

Write and optimize SQL queries against relational databases (Postgres, MySQL) to validate backend data

Integrate automated tests into continuous integration tools (e.g., GitHub Actions or Jenkins)

Monitor test executions, analyze results, and drive defect investigations to resolution

Ensure automation coverage keeps pace with rapid feature releases and evolving architecture

💻Required Competence and Skills:

4+ years of automation testing experience in a commercial software development environment

3+ years of hands-on experience programming automated tests in Java

Practical use of AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) in daily workflow

Proven ability to derive test scenarios and cases from functional specifications

Strong SQL skills with relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

➕Nice to Have:

Experience with automated test tools and frameworks such as Playwright, TestNG, or Selenium

Familiarity with containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)

Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Jenkins

Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or related discipline
