Description

We’re looking for a Software Engineer (Odoo) to join the team behind the Internal Automation Service at MacPaw.

The Internal Automation Service powers MacPaw’s core operational infrastructure. It helps us streamline international and domestic accounting, payroll, treasury, legal workflows, and third-party API integrations so our teams can focus on driving company-wide impact.

As a Software Engineer (Odoo), you will take ownership of analyzing, validating, and engineering robust technical solutions to support and evolve our internal Odoo ecosystem. You’ll analyze technical feasibility, suggest architectural alternatives with clear reasoning, write clean code, and drive system migration to newer versions.

If you’re excited to lay the foundation for our internal infrastructure to reach new heights of stability, scalability, and performance, we’d love to hear from you!

In this role, you will:

Analyze and validate technical solutions for complex business ideas, financial processes, and legal requests.

Suggest architectural and code-level technical solutions to increase overall Service stability and performance.

Implement technical solutions to cover all acceptance criteria and other team agreements (e.g tech documentation, tests, NFRs, security compliance, etc.)

Design and develop custom Odoo modules and participate in the migration of our ERP to newer versions.

Build and maintain integrations with third-party services and APIs.

Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues or failures according to Service task priorities

Communicate proactively with cross-functional teams and internal clients to clarify requirements, handle edge cases, and ensure smooth delivery.

Share domain knowledge, documentation, and architectural details across the engineering team to maintain high operational awareness.

Contribute to adopting AI tools and modern engineering practices in the team's development workflow and internal business processes

Skills you’ll need to bring:

At least 3+ years of experience as Python Developer

Strong understanding of the Odoo framework and its internal modules.

Solid proficiency in PostgreSQL and relational database design

Proven experience conducting code reviews and upholding software engineering standards.

Demonstrated ability to investigate unfamiliar systems and projects, supporting and evolving them independently.

Fluent Ukrainian and upper-Intermediate level of English (all code reviews, technical documentation, and tickets are in English)

Experience with modern AI development tooling (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar).

As a plus:

Hands-on experience with Odoo Accounting and Payroll modules.

Practical experience with Odoo.sh and writing automated tests.

Proven track record in Odoo version migrations and integrating complex 3rd-party APIs.

Understanding of Odoo's OWL frontend framework or hands-on experience with React-like frameworks (e.g., React, Vue).
