Junior-system-engineer

Responsibilities

Participate in the installation, configuration, updating, and day-to-day administration of Windows Server and Linux operating systems;

Support the administration and configuration of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and other core infrastructure services;

Participate in the creation, configuration, and management of virtual machines on VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, Hyper-V, and other virtualization platforms;

Perform daily monitoring of physical and virtual servers, system services, and core infrastructure components;

Perform initial diagnosis of system incidents, investigate the causes of problems, assist in their resolution, and escalate when necessary;

Participate in the integration and technical support of server, storage, backup, and virtualization systems;

Support the integration of new systems and services into the existing IT infrastructure;

Monitor backup processes, verify their results, and participate in restore operations and recovery tests;

Perform initial checks of server and service connectivity issues using knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, IP addressing, and other basic networking concepts;

Participate in monitoring system resources, logs, services, and performance metrics;

Assist in maintaining an inventory of the existing infrastructure and keeping system configurations and technical information up to date;

Document system configurations, changes, completed work, and technical procedures;

Coordinate with networking, information security, and other technical teams when implementing infrastructure changes;

Participate in system integration, migration, modernization, and other infrastructure projects under the guidance of experienced engineers;

Comply with applicable internal IT security rules, standards, and procedures.

Requirements

Education:

A university degree or secondary vocational qualification in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

Extensive work experience is not mandatory for this junior-level role. However, practical experience in system administration, system integration, or a related field, participation in internships, setting up laboratory environments, or working on personal technical projects is considered an advantage.

Technical Skills:

Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and Windows Server;

Introductory or basic knowledge of Linux operating systems;

General understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy services;

Basic knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, or Hyper-V;

Knowledge of TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnets, VLANs, DNS, and core networking protocols;

Introductory understanding of physical servers, storage, SAN, and backup concepts;

Basic knowledge of backup and data recovery principles;

Basic troubleshooting skills in Windows and Linux systems;

Understanding of basic system log and monitoring data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with practical experience in the following areas:

Hands-on experience in Windows Server and Active Directory environments;

Experience in installing, configuring, and administering Linux servers;

Hands-on experience in VMware ESXi/vCenter or Hyper-V environments;

Experience working with physical servers and storage equipment;

Initial hands-on experience with Veeam or other backup and recovery solutions;

Experience with Zabbix, Grafana, or other monitoring systems;

Basic knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages;

Experience with ticketing systems;

Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat, Linux, or other relevant IT certifications;

Participation in real-world IT projects, internships, laboratory projects, or personal technical projects.
