Frontend Engineer (React/Next.js) for Sustainable E-commerce Marketplace

We are looking for an experienced Frontend Engineer to join the development of a mature European e-commerce marketplace focused on sustainable retail.

You will work on customer-facing marketplace features using Next.js, React, and TypeScript, with a strong focus on performance, accessibility, reusable UI components, and high-quality user experiences.

The role involves close collaboration with backend, UI/UX, product, and design system teams, as well as integration with key marketplace services such as search, payments, localization, and GraphQL APIs.

Requirements:

Several years of professional frontend development experience with React

Strong TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+) skills

Experience with Next.js or comparable SSR/SSG frameworks

Experience integrating GraphQL and/or REST APIs

Experience with automated frontend testing, such as Jest and Testing Library

Strong understanding of frontend performance, Core Web Vitals, accessibility (WCAG), and code quality

Ability to make pragmatic technical decisions and balance engineering quality with delivery speed

Experience using AI-powered development tools for coding, reviews, or testing

Nice to have: Experience with design systems, reusable component libraries, or Storybook

Nice to have: Experience with search integrations such as Algolia

Nice to have: Experience with payment integrations such as Stripe

Nice to have: Experience with internationalization using i18n/i18next

Nice to have: Experience with modern Yarn or monorepo tooling

Nice to have: Familiarity with ESLint, Prettier, or Knip

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain marketplace features using Next.js, React, and TypeScript

Integrate GraphQL APIs and implement efficient data and session handling

Build and maintain reusable UI components in collaboration with the design system team

Improve frontend performance, Core Web Vitals, SSR/CDN caching, and accessibility

Write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and maintain high code quality

Collaborate closely with backend, UI/UX, and product teams on APIs and user experience

Use modern AI tools to support development, testing, and code review workflows
