Description
Format: remote, full-time, long-term contract
Time zone: working hours overlapping with UK time (GMT+0) Company: fast-growing, well-funded product company (developer tools / data platform)
Rate: $30–40/h (contractor, net)
About the role
The company is building a "self-driving" product and is training its own deep learning models on petabytes of product data: events, errors, session replays and more. You will join a new AI research team with real autonomy and direct influence on what gets shipped. This is a research-to-production role: shipping comes first.
What you will work on
- Session replay analysis: faster, cheaper models for detecting user issues, trained on large-scale DOM mutation data
- User behavior prediction: spotting drop-offs and suggesting improvements automatically
- Synthetic user testing: simulating users to catch confusing flows or breakages before release
- Training, evaluating and optimizing transformer-based models, from experiments to production
Requirements
- Strong math background (PhD is a plus) or hands-on experience training models
- Strong PyTorch
- Strong coding skills in Rust, CUDA or C (Rust preferred)
- Solid understanding of Transformer architectures
- Product mindset: you build things that ship, not just notebooks
- Fluent English
Not a fit
- Purely theoretical profiles
- Research-only focus without interest in shipping to production
