Senior Java Developer

Project description

Building a trading platform for innovative international top-tier hedge fund from the ground up, comprising of front-office system for traders, pre-trade checks and analysis, intra-day positions management, order management and routing, risks and limits management, reports of trading activities, FIX connectivity, market data providers connectivity (e.g. Bloomberg B-pipe).

Responsibilities

Maintain and improve existing backend services.

Design, develop, and implement new backend services and APIs.

Investigate production issues by analyzing application behavior, logs, and system performance to identify root causes.

Provide continuous support, maintenance, and enhancements for existing applications.

Skills

Must have

The role requires expertise supported by a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Finance, or a related field.

Hard skills include:

Proficient knowledge of Java, encompassing collections, multithreading and concurrency, and JVM memory management.

Strong experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks.

Practical experience with Apache Kafka and Docker.

Basic proficiency in Linux administration and command-line operations.

Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL queries.

Experience in working with REST APIs and backend integrations.

Capability to provide level 3 support for production trading systems as needed.

Soft skills expected:

Readiness and availability to address critical support issues in production environments.

Nice to have

Experience in hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, brokers, or other financial services companies, demonstrating industry-specific knowledge.

Experience with AWS, indicating familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services.

Experience supporting production applications, showcasing the ability to maintain and troubleshoot live systems.

Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools, reflecting skills in system performance tracking and issue detection.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, illustrating knowledge of automated software deployment processes.
