About Company

Wise Engineering is a software company where 90% of client relationships turn into long-term partnerships, and 70% of the team are senior-level engineers. We're hiring for one of our client products.

About the Project

A secondary school scheduling platform built by former educators who lived the problem firsthand. The school schedule is one of the most consequential decisions a district makes - it shapes how staff and students spend their time, what positions are needed, and how resources are allocated across schools. With AI-powered optimization and hands-on support, the platform helps school and district leaders build schedules that reflect their academic, staffing, and budget priorities - while saving hundreds of hours in the process.

About the Role

Senior Software Engineer responsible for full-stack development of the platform's data integrations ecosystem. You will build the product and infrastructure that enables schools and districts to send and receive data to the scheduling application, and participate in limited direct customer support to stay close to real integration challenges.

Strong English is a hard requirement - you'll work directly with non-technical

stakeholders on the customer side.

Responsibilities:

Build and maintain data pipelines - import, validation, transformation, and export of customer data across 100+ school information systems

Work directly with customers to enable and troubleshoot their data integrations

Design and deliver tools and infrastructure that make the integration process more reliable and scalable

Own key architectural decisions in your product area

Introduce and apply AI-assisted approaches to parser and exporter development

Own production availability - observability, incident response, and fixing what you ship

Mentor engineers on the integration team and contribute to cross-team knowledge sharing

Requirements

Technical Skills

3–5+ years of experience in backend or integration-heavy domains

Hands-on experience with data pipelines, parsers, or system integrations (SFTP, APIs, custom formats)

Proficiency in Python and async patterns

English C1 - you'll communicate directly with customers, often non-technical ones

Strong ownership mindset - comfortable in a fast-moving startup with limited hand-holding

Experience with LLM/generative AI in a production or development context - building with it, not just using Copilot

Prior EdTech experience is a plus

Experience & Soft Skills

English C1 or higher - customer-facing role requiring clear communication with non-technical stakeholders!

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguous, loosely defined integration requirements

Proactive communicator - keeps stakeholders informed, surfaces blockers early, doesn't wait to be asked

Comfortable working collaboratively across product, engineering, and customer success teams

Tech Stack: Python, FastAPI, Pydantic v2, MongoDB, Motor, Dramatiq, RabbitMQ, Temporal, AWS (ECS Fargate, Batch, Lambda, S3, SQS), AWS Bedrock, Gurobi / OR-Tools, dbt, DuckDB / MotherDuck, pytest, GitHub Actions, Docker, Terraform, Terragrunt, Helm, Kubernetes (EKS + ArgoCD), Datadog
