Description

Who we are

We’re a fast-growing telehealth product launched in 2025, focused on the US market. Our platform connects patients with doctors for weight-loss treatment, prescriptions, and insurance-covered telehealth visits.

We work in a HIPAA-conscious environment where reliability, security, and responsible handling of sensitive information are essential. Our user base is growing quickly, and our team is remote-first across multiple countries.

Role overview

We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to help operate and improve the AWS infrastructure behind our telehealth platform.

You’ll work alongside our existing DevOps engineer and collaborate closely with development and QA. The role initially reports to the CTO, with a planned reporting line to a DevOps Tech Lead as we grow the team.

You’ll combine hands-on production operations with improvements to reliability, security, observability, and deployment automation. You’ll take ownership of infrastructure work from investigation and planning through implementation, documentation, and ongoing operation.

This role suits someone who works independently, makes sound technical decisions, and enjoys improving existing infrastructure while supporting a growing product.

What you’ll do

Operate and improve AWS infrastructure

Operate and maintain production and staging environments, focusing on reliability, performance, security, and availability.

Design and implement infrastructure improvements that support product growth.

Plan upgrades and infrastructure changes with appropriate testing, rollback procedures, and documentation.

Monitor capacity and AWS spending, and identify practical opportunities for improvement.

Investigate infrastructure problems and follow them through to resolution.

Maintain infrastructure security

Maintain security controls, including access management, OS patching, hardening, and vulnerability remediation.

Maintain protection against malicious traffic, bots, and DDoS attacks using CloudFront, AWS WAF, and related services.

Implement infrastructure controls that support the company’s security and compliance requirements.

Identify and communicate infrastructure risks, and help prioritize remediation.

Keep security-related infrastructure changes and procedures documented.

Improve observability and incident response

Maintain monitoring, logging, dashboards, health checks, and actionable alerts.

Investigate production incidents and coordinate with developers when application components are involved.

Improve alert quality to reduce noise and make problems easier to diagnose.

Maintain operational runbooks and clear escalation guidance.

Document incident causes and implement improvements that reduce recurrence.

Maintain backup and recovery readiness

Maintain backup policies, monitor backup health, and investigate failures.

Regularly test restoration procedures and document the results.

Keep recovery procedures current and usable by other engineers.

Identify gaps in recovery readiness and propose practical improvements.

Automate operations and improve delivery

Maintain and improve infrastructure as code using CloudFormation.

Automate repetitive operational tasks using Bash or Python.

Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with development and QA.

Make infrastructure changes reproducible, reviewable, and documented.

Improve deployment safety and reduce manual operational work.

Collaborate and share knowledge

Work with development and QA on deployments, troubleshooting, and infrastructure changes.

Help prioritize planned improvements alongside production needs.

Explain technical tradeoffs, risks, and dependencies clearly.

Share knowledge through documentation, infrastructure reviews, and day-to-day collaboration.

Help other engineers understand and safely operate the infrastructure.

What we’re looking for

Production infrastructure experience: Strong experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering, including independent responsibility for production AWS environments.

AWS: Strong hands-on experience with EC2, RDS/MySQL, VPC, CloudFront, WAF, IAM, CloudWatch, and S3.

Linux and Docker: Strong production administration and troubleshooting skills.

Infrastructure as code and automation: Practical experience with CloudFormation, Bash or Python, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

Reliability: Experience with monitoring, incident response, backups, restoration testing, and safe production changes.

Security: A good understanding of infrastructure security, access control, patching, vulnerability management, and web traffic protection.

Technical judgment: The ability to investigate unfamiliar problems, explain tradeoffs, and choose solutions appropriate to the team’s needs.

Ownership: The ability to clarify requirements, plan work, communicate progress, and follow tasks through to completion.

Communication: Clear documentation and English sufficient for technical discussions and incident coordination.

AI-assisted tools: Comfort using AI-assisted engineering tools where appropriate.

Helpful additional experience

Operating infrastructure for healthcare or other products with sensitive data and compliance requirements.

Improving an existing production environment while supporting ongoing product delivery.

Working in a small engineering team with broad infrastructure responsibilities.

Hiring process

Introductory call with HR or a recruiter — 15–30 minutes.

Technical interview with engineering leadership and a DevOps engineer — 1.5 hours.

Final interview with the CTO — 45–60 minutes.

Reference check.

Job offer.

Benefits

Competitive compensation based on your experience and skills.

Remote work and a flexible schedule.

20 working days of paid vacation per year.

5 paid sick days per year.

Conferences, workshops, webinars, and training to support your growth.

The opportunity to influence infrastructure decisions and see the impact of your work as the product grows.

Close collaboration with an international engineering team that values quality, initiative, and practical improvements.
