Senior Java Developer (Camunda)

We are looking for a skilled  Middle / Senior Java

Developer  with deep expertise in  Camunda 7  to join our engineering team. In

this role, you will be responsible for:

Designing, developing, and optimizing complex business process automation solutions,

orchestrating microservices, and implementing scalable server-side logic;

Translating business workflows into robust BPMN/DMN models, driving best practices in

distributed workflow management, and ensuring smooth integration between back-end systems, external APIs, and

front-end applications.

Job

responsibilities

Workflow & Process Automation: Design, model, and implement complex end-to-end

business processes using Camunda 7 (BPMN 2.0 / DMN 1.3).

Backend

Development: Design and develop high-performance, scalable microservices and server-side logic using Java and the

Spring Boot ecosystem.

Process Engine Customization: Write custom Java

Delegates, Execution/Task Listeners, external task workers, and leverage the Camunda REST/Java

APIs.

System Integration: Integrate Camunda with microservices, event

streams (Kafka), databases, and legacy systems.

Performance &

Optimization: Tune Camunda engine configurations, optimize database state persistence, handle asynchronous

continuation, and resolve job executor / deadlock bottlenecks.

Collaboration & Requirements: Work closely with business analysts, product owners, and

engineering teams to translate business logic into executable technical workflows.

Quality & Code Standards: Write clean, well-tested code (unit and process testing via

Camunda BPM Assert / JUnit), conduct code reviews, and maintain clear technical documentation.

Mentorship (for Senior level): Provide guidance on workflow patterns, microservice

orchestration vs. choreography, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering,

or a related field.

Java Expertise: 3+ years (Middle) or 5+ years

(Senior) of hands-on experience in Java development (Java 11/17+).

Camunda 7 Mastery : Strong, proven experience with Camunda Platform 7

(embedded engine, standalone setup, Cockpit, Tasklist, and Admin tools).

Frameworks & Architecture : Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring

Data, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.

Process

Modeling : In-depth knowledge of BPMN 2.0, DMN, error handling strategies (boundary events, saga pattern,

compensating transactions), and process versioning.

Messaging

& Databases : Hands-on experience with message brokers (Kafka or RabbitMQ) and relational databases

(PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle) with strong SQL skills.

Security

& Auth : Solid understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and securing REST endpoints / Camunda web

apps.

Testing : Proficiency in testing Java applications

and Camunda workflows (camunda-bpm-assert, JUnit, Mockito).

Soft

Skills : Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in an

Agile/Scrum team environment.
