Data Governance Specialist

As a Data Governance Specialist, you will be

responsible for implementing a data governance strategies and frameworks across SOCAR’s operations. This includes

ensuring the effective management, quality, security and compliance of data across the

organization.

Job

responsibilities:

Develop and implement data governance policies,standarts and procedures , ensuring

that it aligns with SOCAR’s business objectives and supports data-driven decision-making across all

departments

Oversee the establishment of data quality standards, ensuring

data consistency, accuracy, and security. Ensure compliance with both local and international data

regulations

Set up and operationalize data governance tools, processes,

and workflows to ensure that data governance is embedded in daily operations. Select and implement relevant tools

from leading vendors (e.g., Informatica, Collibra)

Work closely with

cross-functional teams, including business segments, corporate functions and all IT stakeholders to ensure proper

data stewardship and integration across all business units

Identify and

implement technologies that enhance data governance capabilities

Provide

guidance and training on data governance principles to internal teams

Collaborate with the analytics and data science teams to ensure that the data governance

framework supports advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning projects

Manage data access controls and permissions to ensure proper data usage

Monitor changes in regulatory environments and ensure that SOCAR’s data practices are fully

compliant with all applicable laws and regulations

Must-Have Skills and

Qualifications

Data related experience: 2+ years experience in data-related roles (data governance,

data analytics or data architecture)

Industry Expertise: Experience in

large and complex organizations and highly regulated industries (e.g., energy, financial services, healthcare,

telco)

Technical Expertise: Understanding of data governance principles,

including data quality management, metadata management, data lineage, and regulatory compliance. Experience in

business process design,implementation and improvement.

Knowledge of Data

Governance Tools: Experience with leading data governance tools such as Informatica, Collibra, Alation, IBM

InfoSphere, or others

Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to work

cross-functionally and lead teams in implementing data governance practices. Experience managing relationships with

senior business stakeholders and technology teams

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to business

stakeholders

Languages: Proficiency in Azerbaijani and English is

required

Nice-to-Have

Skills:

Oil & Gas Industry Experience: Experience working in the oil & gas industry

or other energy sectors, particularly in roles that intersect with data governance, is a plus

Local Knowledge: Familiarity with Azerbaijan’s data protection regulations and the local

business environment

Certifications: Certifications such as DAMA

Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or other relevant

data governance certifications
